Awareness raising conference about our project and hackathon took place in Riga in May
May was an exciting and eventful month for the Girl Power team, girls willing to become entrepreneurs and educators. After an Idea assessment workshop that we described here earlier, we conducted an Awareness raising conference about our project and importance of early entrepreneurial training on 12 May in Riga. It gathered together secondary school students, parents and stakeholders – most of them passionate about business. There were 6 wonderful speakers on the agenda who made the time simply fly by!
Then, a two-day cross-border hackathon “Make your idea a reality” took place on 19 and 20 May. The girls from Latvia and Estonia got involved into a variety of exercises starting from an ice-breaking activity “Save a novice entrepreneur from a burn-out” and ending with the first steps in business plan compilation. We, the organizers, were happy to observe participants’ creativity and out-of-the-box thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities, communication and presentation skills and flexibility. During the hackathon, the girls defined business ideas they wish to develop further and formed 12 international teams. Each group will actively work on a chosen idea in the coming weeks. We thank everybody for the close involvement in the events, great mood and smiles! See you soon again!
