Mentor’s background

Mentor has a background in biology, STEM education, and art. He’s been teaching at different school levels since 2014, either teaching secondary school pupils or instructing university students. From 2014 to 2018 he worked mainly as a specialist of educational technology in Institute of Education and from 2018 he has been involved in projects focusing on entrepreneurship education in the same institute. From 2018 forward he has been teaching STEM subjects (mostly physics and biology, but also computer science) in Tartu Erakool and leading different hobby groups in HuviTERA, including 3D-printing and design, digital painting, role playing games and multimedia. He has also illustrated many STEM textbooks and digital study materials.

For different enterprises, he has mostly been included as a graphic designer or illustrator, but he also acts as a board member in his own enterprise that operates in the horeca sector (horeca is the sector of the food service industry that consists of establishments which prepare and serve food and beverages).

Mentor’s many hobbies include game design, tabletop role playing games (such as Dungeons & Dragons), board games (with Pandemic and Arkham Horror among some of his favourite games), card games (with Magic: The Gathering as one of the favourites), photography, cooking, gardening, painting landscapes and fantasy creatures, making dioramas and painting miniatures.

All in all, mentor’s passions in life are art, nature, science, education, food and games – all of which he has managed to make a part of his work life.

Personal motto

Mentor’s personal motto is “It all depends on willpower and the degree of pressure”– it loses some of its meaning and nuance in translation, so for those who speak Estonian: Kõik sõltub tahtejõust ja surveastmest!
