First awareness raising conference in Riga and great speakers!

One more achievement we are proud of: last week we organized an Awareness Raising Conference in Riga. More than 40 people were able to attend the event face-to-face and online – girls, parents and teachers! Participants could learn more about “GirlPower” project, the world of entrepreneurship and a role of a woman in it. Of course, we had amazing inspirational speakers, who managed to make girls’ eyes sparkle. At first, the floor took Aiva Vīksna, the Founder and Board Chair-Person of the Association “Līdere”, Vice-president of the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia and owner of several businesses. She not only impressed us with her extensive knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship, but also with an extremely warm and sunny personality.

Then, we had fireside chats with two women-entrepreneurs: Marta Šulce and Jana Zubricka. Marta’s company, Silmachy, produces cosmetics out of natural ingredients with a focus on men’s beards, while Jana’s enterprise, Stikla Serviss, is a leader in manufacturing of glass and glass products. The ladies had completely different business paths, but they both enjoy what they do. Anyone from the audience could ask them any question at any time. We are happy that the discussion was held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

In the last session, the participants engaged into a group work “Build your decision tree.” Teams had to come up with problems that currently exist and look for business solutions to them. Challenges that were considered include unpopularity of finger-speech, changeable weather, unavailability of certain goods in Latvia, hair damage caused by binders and youth’s mental health. Everyone did a great job!
