Girl Power hackathon brought together gymnasium students from six schools

Two days hackathon in Tartu @Erinevate Tubade Klubi was the next step in the project to inspire and support students to develop their own solutions to problems that matter to them. It was also about finding the like-minded fellow participants and build the student team with them and work together in following project period developing their ideas, products or services. During these two days our instructor and facilitator Ülly Enn boosted inspiration, innovation, creativity and productivity of students.

Hackathon days were full of different discoveries, exploration of the problems and possible solutions addressing them, also discussions and different methods how to generate, select and develop ideas further.  In addition to mapping out problems and suggested solutions we interviewed people on the street, created a profile of a potential customer and developed further initial ideas.

Some of the questions that students teams brought out during these days and started to find solutions were:

  • How could we recycly second hand store leftovers?
  • How could we prevent stress among 15-18 year old?
  • How can we make a place where introverted people can meet and make friends with each other, without any problems such as awkward silence?

In the end of the hackathon teams had initial ideas for new products or services that the teams were motivated to develop  further into prototypes.  After hackathon the teams  will continue work under supervision of teachers, coordinators and experts in the frames of 3 capacity building seminars: prototyping, sales & marketing and pitching. Whole experience of developing product or service in student team will be summarized in the closing conference.
