Not only businesses were developed…

02.01.2023.

Not only businesses were developed over the course of participation in the Girl Power project, but great friendships, too.

Some of us - girls from Latvian schools - have known each other before; some go to the same school and see one another's faces almost everyday, some were happily reunited after parting ways when going to different schools after having studied together before, and some met for the first time thanks to the conferences and events that we had the opportunity to take part in.
Understandably, most of the over-the-border acquaintances were new to all of us, but friendship knows no borders, as has been proven by the teamwork and its aftermath.

Of course, first meetings might have been a tiny bit awkward for some, as starting conversations with people you have not met before might be a little scary - you don't yet know whether you have a common ground or not, whether you'll understand each other's world views or not, etc.
However, that has proven not to be an issue in the slightest - we found common interests, ways to communicate, and topics to talk about, almost instantly.
We've made new friends. Our friends acquainted us with their frineds and we hung out as groups. We had great fun before, after, and in-between informative events, which made us twice as excited for each event.

Going abroad - for us "abroad" meant Estonia, was always something to look forward to. We knew that we would have a conference to attend and had pens and notebooks for note-taking ready to go. We also knew that we would have the opportunity to explore a city together, go on walks, have sleepovers, and overall just make great memories.

We have made a chat in a messenger app with all the girls from our friend group - we would send photos and videos that captured the most fun moments of the trips, so that we have something to look back on.

You know how theн say that "the real treasure is the friends we made along the way"? Well, with this project we found two treasures - the friendships and the knowledge.

Initial idea generation

On the very first conference, the moment we were asked to come up with ideas about what types of businesses we could potentially start on our own, our minds immediately jumped to the topics of fashion and the environment.
We have just enjoyed listening to numerous presentations and success-stories of local business-people, who are changing the market and making the world a better place day by day with their own creations, so we were full of inspiration and motivation to follow their example.

Presenting the business to peers

Added: 01.12.2022. 20:20

When the ideas, with the added work and newly acquired knowledge, have solidified to a certain extent, we presented the businesses to our peers and mentors, received useful feedback, discussed the strengths, the weaknesses, and the ways in which the business can be improved going further,

Developing a visual identity

Added: 03.11.2022. 20:16

A piece of information has to catch the eye first, and only then it has a chance to reach the brain. A brand can only function when its ideologies and practices, however impressive, are backed up by a strong and compelling visual identity. One of the conferences in Parnu taught us exactly that, and we put in the mental power and the practical work needed to come up with a visual representation of our brand, that by now has been slowly but surely turning into something more or less tangible - no longer merely an amorphous thought. Just like a gorgeous sculpture being released from a shapeless piece of rock.
